Ideas & Creativity
Innovation:
The big idea
What is innovation? How do we innovate? Why should we and what are the benefits?
These are just some of the questions answered in Jack Milner’s “Big Idea”
- A thought provoking, fun and inspirational workshop.
Through
this workshop we examine how our creative processes work (and don’t work), and
through comedy we also learn new and exciting ways of innovating, how to
encourage innovation, and finding those big ideas!
This
workshop builds on the successful “Leadership and ideas” “LEADERSHIP and
IDEAS” workshops run by Jack Milner for Ashridge (one of the world's leading
business schools).
Style
High energy, high impact and great fun.
Content
-
Trusting
Yourself. A warm up exercise that takes people out of their comfort zone. If
you’re self conscious about how look or how others perceive you then
you’re blocking. This is first high energy step to remove those blocks and
to innovate.
-
Being
Intuitive - Comedy Improvisation. A quick introduction to comedy
improvisation. The theme here is “accept and build.” Without the right
environment then innovation is nearly impossible.
-
What
is innovation? We will have I explain that we’ve already used innovation
to solve 3 problems in the first 15 minutes of the workshop. We find a
common language to explain our understanding of innovation.
-
Who
are we when we innovate? We’re all different and we innovate and solve
problems in different ways.
-
Big
Ideas. We learn a little more about what gets in the way of ideas. This
exercise also introduces our theme of Big Ideas from Chaos.
-
The
Ideas machine - Developed by Jack Milner, . T this unique “machine” can
give you 64 different solutions to any problem in minutes.
-
Drawing
an Idea and Moulding an Idea – a number of great comedians are almost
illiterate. So how do they write their material? They don’t. Another tool
for creating ideas.
-
Getting
it Wrong to Get it Right. Creativity isn’t a logical process. Some of the
worst ideas are often very close to being the best…
-
Random
objects. This completes our “chaos” theme. We look at how a random group
of objects can in themselves create ideas and make a dull story great!
-
Process.
Within any large organisation a process is required to ensure innovation
flourishes, adds benefit, is listened to and acted on.
-
The
Problem and the solution.
-
Using
techniques learnt earlier in the workshop, the delegates divide into groups
and come up with solutions to problems that can either be pertinent to their
department or that Jack has suggested. They then present their idea in the
style of a performance.
-
Finish
– what lessons have we learnt and how can find a solution to ensure these
are acted upon?.
“Problems cannot be solved by thinking within the framework in which the
problems were created". Albert Einstein
The workshop is designed to be great fun, challenging whilst encouraging
participants to be open to the ideas process and their own creative brilliance!
“(Jack’s workshop) has given us new ways of thinking and coming up with
ideas that we can use tomorrow. Exactly what we wanted!” CEO Starcom Mediavest
