Meet and Greet

“Thank you for providing an excellent and rewarding (meet and greet) course to our team.” Catherine Smith, HR director Continuum

Who is it for?

All those who are required to work as meeters and greeters; who have to interact with the public on a day to day basis on an informal basis but who are required to get “business” results; and who find this sort of work challenging or would like to improve their meeting and greeting skills.

The Aim:

To raise confidence; hone skills and provide new practical techniques to ensure the natural personality of greeter comes through, their aims are achieved and that the public have a happy and rewarding experience.

Jacks workshops are devised to bring out the best in the individual, the best in ‘your staff’ rather than creating clone pitches.

What makes Jack’s training different:

Transferring communication skills from comedy to the business environment, using humour as a teaching tool. The same skills a comedian uses in gaining the public’s confidence and in being confident communicators.

Training Method:

Participate, with delegate and tutor feedback, in fun practical exercises, learning new skills and revolutionary techniques in getting your message across to your audience.

Trainees will also spend two hours in the afternoon, observed and supported by Jack practising their skills with members of the public in a real “meet and greet” situation. (THIS WILL BE DEPENDENT ON FUTURE DISCUSSIONS BUT I BELIEVE IT IS A VITAL PART OF THE TRAINING).

Duration: One day

The Content

PART ONE

  • Stepping over the line. Moving outside your comfort zone and knowing it is all right, that you can cope. We use a variety of comedy impro exercises increasing  in difficulty to build confidence in their conversational skills and their ability to cope in any situation.

  • Knowing your audience. What do they want from you? See it from their point of view.

  • How far do I go? We step a bit further over the line and discover that risk taking is vital to engaging the audience – but it is has to be at the right level. If you’re brave, direct and friendly then generally speaking they will like you!

  • 5 top tip for meeters and greeters. Simple techniques to ensure successful conversations with the public and that your aims are achieved.

  • Body language. How to connect through body language.

  • Listening and being present. The conversation.

  • Trying it out. A dress rehearsal for the afternoon’s meet and greet.

PART TWO

  • Meet and greet with the public. Delegates have a chance to put their newly acquired techniques into action. Jack will be observing, providing feedback and support throughout.

  • Debrief. What worked, what didn’t and how to continue their improvements and ensure that they just get better and better!

“… The training you delivered helped them greatly with the way in which they interacted with members of the public. I'm certainly very pleased with their performances collectively.” Simon Wildgust, Portsmouth Spinnaker
